Our program spans classes that introduce the basic principles and framework of the industry to advanced courses that engage with the complex regulatory, corporate and contractual matters of insurance law.

How to Enrol

Enrol with the University or Industry Organisation

All enrolments and course fees are managed by our education partners. Students enrol directly with the education partner and are assessed according to the education partner’s protocols. All student fees are paid to the education partner according to their course fee structure.

Study Options in the University Program

Degree Programs

You can enrol in a degree with one of our university partners and undertake ACIS courses as part of your degree. For example, Master of Laws students are eligible to undertake ACIS units as part of their degree.

Single Courses

You can enrol with one of our university partners in a single course without committing to a full degree. Single courses can be undertaken with or without assessment: you will receive academic credit for assessed study and you will receive a certificate verifying your participation upon completion of non-assessed study.

This postgraduate course examines key concepts associated with general insurance as a risk transfer loss spreading arrangement. It includes analysis of the common law and relevant equitable principles, and closely examines of the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth). Commercial Insurance Law

This course focuses on the legal context and considerations of property, crime and financial liability insurance, including categories of loss and liability, disputed coverage and claims handling issues. The course is relevant to operational business risk management and will cover insurance products such as material damage and resultant business interruption, public and products liability, professional indemnity, errors and omissions, crime and trade credit insurance. The following topics are covered:
  1. What is insurance and how does it work? How does it compare/contrast with other modes of risk transfer/funding?
  2. Commercial property and business interruption insurance
  3. Public and product liability insurance: the nature of "occurrence-based" liability insurance
  4. Financial liability insurances, professional indemnity and directors & officers insurance (PIDO), errors and omissions insurance (ENO), civil liability
  5. Trade credit, insolvency insurance and cyber-risk insurance
  6. Strategies and tactics for dealing with insurers: resolving underwriting and claim disputes
